Laos's Revenge:
Secretary's notes:
Healing was done on wounded. One more soldier died. Loot was seized from broo: iron dagger, magic bracer, assorted coins and jewelry. Leucas took ill and became weak.
Able bodied soldiers returned to the fort, delivered supplies, and returned back to get their disabled comrades (and dead bodies). Journey to the fort, back to the battlefield, and then back to the fort went without incident.
Tense atmosphere observed at the fort. All soldiers at the fort looked tired.
Regular duties resumed. Dead soldiers buried, including Laos. Anthoon called in to see Orios, and was promoted to sergeant. Discussion of tracking broo back to their hideout. Anthoon's squad: Anthoon, Leucas, Kosmas, Iason, Kypros.
A new soldier, Skiron, was alarmed upon noticing Nikostas or one of Nikostas's men. Later Skiron expressed concern that he might end up in Nikostas's squad, and hurried away at the approach of some of Nikostas's men.
The following morning, Skiron found dead with throat slit. Orios began investigation into the murder.
Mid-morning, smoke seen pouring from fort kitchen. Nikostas approached Anthoon and told him to take his squad and deal with the fire. Anthoon questioned why Nikostas did not do it; Nikostas said he was going to talk to the captain. Anthoon and squad went to deal with the fire.
Approaching the fire, a horse scream was heard from the stables. Anthoon and Iason went to the stables and found one of Nikostas's men stabbing one of Sostratos's men. Horses had been crippled. Man from Nikostas's squad demanded to be let by. Anthoon and Iason let him go by, returned to the fire.
Anthoon's squad fought fire with water from the well. Iason dragged out two people who had been tied up and left in the kitchen. Commotion heard at the front of the fort. Sounds of screaming as soldiers were thrown from the guard towers.
Group got fire under control and reluctantly went to the front of the fort to see what had happened. Lieutenant Orios and two of Nikostas's squad had been killed. Nikostas, Iolo, and Astos had survived and
escaped. One of the three survivors had lost an arm fighting Orios. Members of Michodo's squad limped in from outside, where they had been thrown from the guard towers. Other soldiers had arrived too late to
intervene in the battle.
Michodo assumed acting command. Michodo treated Anthoon with suspicion. Orios buried. Dead men from Nikostas's squad stripped and hauled into the wastes for vultures and hyenas.
